OUR BRAND

The GRIFUS brand was created with the idea of bringing on the global scale a true sense of handmade quality. The idea was to place under the same brand a group of carefully selected micro artisanal producers' workshops, with the scope of launching the actual Italian production worldwide. Today we are still keeping the same idea and spirit, offering top range selections of the most traditional Italian leather craftsmanship.

OUR VALUES

We believe in five core values:

1. More is more - we believe in maximalism, minimalism is simply dead. We strongly believe that caring for details rather than removing them is a key factor in luxury. Of course we could have designed bags without any sort of detail and called them with a Scandinavian name, but this is not our style and we are not in a furniture store. We believe the real luxury has to offer a unique style to people, that can suit their inner spirit.
2. Long lasting style - we believe that a true classic style will last forever. People often have to change the items they purchase every season. That is due to a widespread assumption that fashion design has to be trashed as the wind changes. We don’t believe that, in fact we assumed that our products should be considered as artisans’ masterpieces, to be collected, enjoyed and preserved for future generations, a common practice in the past, a gift to be passed across generations.
3. Quality over price - we believe that in order to offer real quality, brands have to choose wisely their products and styles. Most of brands nowadays offer good image quick-fashioned products, sacrificing almost completely quality and obtaining the best end price possible from cheap production sources in developing markets. We don’t believe so. We believe that quality of materials, the producing craftsmanship and the caring for details have to be rewarded. We offer the products we create at the best price possible, but surely “Genuine handcrafted Italian leather products” cannot be the cheapest in the market, but at the same time, by cutting the middle man thanks to internet, customer can purchase our products directly at factory prices, which of course helps us to maintain a competitive price range for our products.
4. Handmade is the key - we believe that in a world where everything is getting mechanized, we are gradually losing the skills and the traditions that made artisans the keepers of society’s best production knowledge and culture. We believe that keeping the handmade production helps the customers to understand the real value of what they are purchasing, as well as preventing the producing traditions to get lost. We believe that going back to handmade production will be the only way for society to save its culture and we will make our best to keep our production this way.
5. Environmentally friendly luxury brand "Buy better, Buy less" - we believe that keeping the production local and artisanal, not only helps the local market, but decreases the environmental impact production usually has. Also, by providing better quality and long lasting stylish products, we help people to spend better, meaning that if we all buy better products, we will buy less, with a consistent help in pollution reduction over time. Compare for instance the behavior of people buying dozens of cheap canvas bags, that need to be trashed the following year because out of fashion, to those people buying one top quality leather bag lasting forever. Do you see the difference in the environmental impact of the two different approaches to shopping? We do.

OUR LOCATION 

We take the Handmade in Italy promise very seriously. In fact, our leather products are 100% certified Made in Italy products, handmade in a small workshop based in Abruzzo. The Abruzzo region may be less known to the wider public, mostly think Italian leather is made only in regions such as Tuscany or Marche, though leather production is widespread across the country. In fact, Abruzzo is a unique region, full of history, traditions, gastronomical and manufacturing excellence, a region where you can find spectacular seaside at 1hr driving range from mountains. Our villages, some of them surrounding medieval castles, have a secular handcrafting tradition, passed from father to sons to grandsons. Leather, ceramic, fashion production are among the region top excellences, and we are proud to present the high quality levels of our handmade products directly to you.
